● Beta — KubeEra is in active development. Profiles are live; AI-perception measurement is rolling out.

Manifesto · an open letter

Perception has new gatekeepers. Nobody audits them.

For twenty years, analyst quadrants decided which infrastructure vendors made the shortlist. Now AI answer engines do it — in seconds, at scale, trained on marketing. Both shape what gets deployed. Neither is accountable for being wrong.

The old gatekeeper sold a verdict.

Analyst firms rank vendors on judgment — and the vendors being judged are also the customers. Everyone knows the shape of that arrangement. We are not here to publish a better opinion. We are here to stop publishing opinions dressed as measurements.

The new gatekeeper doesn't even have an opinion.

When a platform engineer asks a model "what should I use for GitOps," the answer is a statistical echo — of docs, blog posts, and marketing that may be two releases stale. That answer now gates discovery. If the models describe your product wrong, there's no analyst to brief, no ombudsman, no appeal. You don't even know it's happening.

So we measure the echo.

KubeEra tracks how frontier models describe cloud-native tools — the same buyer-shaped questions, every month, multi-run, versioned. We call it what it is: perception. Highly Visible. Emerging. Overlooked. Contested. Never "Leader." Never "Laggard." A perception measurement is not a quality verdict, and we refuse to let the two blur.

And we let the truth push back — twice.

Vendors get recourse: contest a wrong perception with evidence — a lab test, release data, a documented response — shown at equal prominence to the signal it contests. Operators get a Ground Truthlayer, in development: verified engineers who run these tools in production, on the record. It's built ahead of need and compounds for years. When it lands, the gap between what the machines say and what operators report is the signal this industry doesn't have anywhere else.

Positions money can't move.

Our commitments.

  1. Perception is measured, never judged.Perception-native language only. If we can't measure it, we don't publish it.
  2. Placement is never sold. Payment buys depth — reports, monitoring, testing — never position, on either lens.
  3. Evidence is shown at equal prominence.A vendor's contest sits beside the signal it contests, not buried beneath it.
  4. Operators get the last word. When the Ground Truth layer lands, the record is theirs — deterministic, and it compounds beyond anyone's ability to buy it.
